Montessori Phonics
Montessori phonics is a sequence of exercises and materials to foster the needed movements and coordination to be practiced in preparation for actual reading and writing.
Montessori phonics emphasizes on the following:
Small group size
Individual coaching
Association of concrete, abstract materials to phonetic sound
Structured learning tailored to individual's learning progress
Close monitoring of individual's learning progress
Increased and enriched sound language experiences with intensive and continuous stimulation
By the end of the course, Montessori children are able to read phonetically with confidence. It is the mastery to read phonetically that distinguishes Montessori phonics from other methods where children may be taught to memorize the pronunciation to a word.
